Side Channel Pumps

What is a Side Channel Pump:

A Side Channel Pump is a horizontal style pump specifically designed for fluid mixtures with liquid & vapours. They are able to generate high pressures when comparing them to other style pumps which are similar in size.

Side Channel Pumps are mix between a positive displacement pump and a centrifugal pump. These pumps have the ability to self-prime. They are sometimes fitted with a standard centrifugal type impeller on in the first stage to assist in low NPSH applications.

Side Channel pumps consist of 1 or more stages fitted with star shaped impellers. These impellers rotate with tight tolerances between the suction disk and the discharge disk. The discharge disk is constructed with side channel or groove out the disk and ends with a circular hole called the discharge port. This is where the fluid will flow and exit the stage. From there it will either enter the next stage through the inlet port of the next suction disk, or it will be discharged out the pump.

Side Channel Pumps are suitable to fluids without particles or abrasives.
