A drum pump is a portable pump designed to quickly and safely transfer liquids from barrels or drums without needing to tilt or lift the container.
The main parts of a drum pump are as follows;-
- Motor or Hand Crank: Positioned at the top outside the container, this power source operates via electricity, compressed air, or manual operation.
- Impeller or Pumping Element: A small rotor or spinning fan located at the bottom tip of the immersion tube.
- Immersion Tube: A narrow, extended pipe inserted directly through the drum’s bung hole into the liquid.
How a Drum Pump Operates
Activating the motor or hand lever spins the lower impeller. This motion generates suction, pulling fluid up through the immersion tube and discharging it through an attached hose and nozzle.
