Speck Pumps: From Germany to Perth

Speck Pumps are manufactured by Speck Pumpen in Germany. They have been around for more than 100 years, making them one of the oldest pump manufacturers in the world. They were established by Daniel Speck in 1909 in Roth, Germany with the help of his five sons.

Speck Pumpen manufactures a wide variety of pumps, including centrifugal pumps, submersible side channel pumps, liquid ring vacuum pumps, boiler feed pumps and heat transfer pumps. We like them for their liquid ring vacuum pumps.

Applications for Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps

Liquid ring vacuum pumps are used for a wide variety of applications. They tend to be noiseless and able to convey large quantities of liquids. In the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, they are used for filling creams and pastes without leaving any gas bubbles. They are common for distilling because distilling takes place in a vacuum.

Vacuum pumps are also used to remove the air from pharmaceutical substances that tend to otherwise oxidise. They are used in the filtration process to draw liquids through a filter and can also be used to cool liquids through an evaporation process. Vacuum pumps can also be used for drying mixtures and for concentrating liquids.

In food processing, they can be used to take the gases out of mineral water. They are common in the bottling industry for most liquids, including beer, wine, champagne, flavoured drinks and any liquid that benefits from the air being withdrawn from the bottle.

They can also be used to deodorise fats and salad oils through a vapour injection process.
