Professional Pump and Motor Alignment

Correct alignment between a pump and its drive motor is essential for reliable, efficient operation. Even small alignment errors can place unnecessary stress on the pump, motor, coupling and bearings—leading to increased wear and premature equipment failure.

What is motor and pump alignment?

Motor and pump alignment is the process of accurately positioning the motor shaft and pump shaft so they operate along the correct centreline.

Although flexible couplings can accommodate a small amount of movement, they are not designed to correct poor alignment. For the equipment to operate properly, both shafts must be aligned within the manufacturer’s recommended tolerances.

Professional alignment is typically completed using precision laser alignment equipment, allowing accurate measurements and adjustments to be made.
